Org Structure
Manage your organization structure in Holiday Ocean 360: tree and chart views, creating units, the side panel, reorganizing and the audit trail.
What “Org Structure” replaced
The previous Departments page is now Org Structure — a unified tree view that combines:
- Department hierarchy editing
- Visual org chart
- Per-department schedule, calendar, and policy assignments
Tree view vs chart view
Top-right of the Org Structure page has a toggle:
| View | Best for |
|---|---|
| Tree | Editing large hierarchies fast |
| Chart | Showing the org to leadership — visual, screenshot-able |
Both views read and write the same data.
Creating a unit
Click + Add Unit.
A unit can represent a department, team, or any organizational grouping. The system doesn’t enforce a specific terminology — call yours what you want.
| Field | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Name | Display label |
| Parent | Where this unit sits in the tree |
| Manager | Default approver for leave requests from this unit |
| Members | Employees who report into this unit |
Side panel tabs
Click any unit in the tree to open the side panel with:
| Tab | What you configure |
|---|---|
| Overview | Name, parent, manager, member count |
| Members | Add / remove employees |
| Calendar | Pick the holiday calendar for this unit (overrides org default) |
| Schedule | Pick the shift policy for this unit |
| Policies | Pick which leave policy applies |
Reorganizing
To move a unit:
- Choose
Move Uniton the unit and pick its new parent
The system prevents cycles and warns you if a move would orphan members.
Audit
Every move, rename, or assignment change is recorded with the user, timestamp, and previous values. View history at Audit Log filtered by entity = department.
Deletion is blocked while the unit has members or child units. Reassign them first. Once empty, the unit is deleted permanently; the deletion itself stays in the audit log.
