Decision Card
The Holiday Ocean 360 decision card: employee context, the policy checker and team capacity on one screen, so you can approve or reject quickly.
The Decision Card
The Decision Card gives you everything you need to make an informed approval or rejection — all on a single screen, no switching between pages.
Employee Context
At the top of the card, you’ll see the request details:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Employee details | Name, department, and role |
| Leave type and dates | What they’re requesting and for how long |
| Current balance | Remaining days and usage history for this leave type |
| Request note | Any message the employee included with their request |
Policy Checker
The Policy Checker automatically evaluates every request against your organization’s configured rules:
| Result | What it means |
|---|---|
| Compliant | All policy rules pass — safe to approve |
| Non-Compliant | One or more rules are violated — review carefully |
| Warnings | Soft constraints that are close to limits (e.g., low balance after approval) |
Each rule check is listed individually so you can see exactly what was evaluated.
A green checkmark next to the Policy Checker means full compliance. You can approve with confidence.
Team Capacity
The capacity panel shows your team’s availability during the requested dates:
| Signal | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Low risk (green) | Adequate coverage — safe to approve |
| Medium risk (amber) | Approaching minimum coverage threshold |
| High risk (red) | Below minimum coverage — approval may impact operations |
The panel also lists who’s already off during the same period and the remaining coverage level for your department.
Making a Decision
You have four actions available on every request:
- Approve — approve the request as submitted
- Reject — reject with a required reason (shown to the employee in their decision explanation)
- Propose Alternative — suggest different dates to the employee
- Escalate — forward to another approver or HR for review
Every decision requires a brief note explaining your reasoning. This is recorded in the audit log and shown to the employee as part of their decision explanation.
The combination of policy check, team capacity, and employee context gives you the full picture — no guesswork required.
