Set up salaries in Holiday Ocean 360: salary structure, pay period, what employees can see, salary history and changes, and bulk operations.
Set up salaries
Payroll → Salaries lists every employee with their current salary state.
Click any employee to open the salary dialog.
Salary structure
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Base salary | The fixed monthly amount |
| Currency | Per-employee — useful for multi-country teams |
| Effective from | When the salary takes effect (defaults to today) |
| Components | Named line items: housing, transport, bonus, etc. |
Components add to base salary. They appear as separate lines in the employee’s view.
Pay period
Salaries are calculated on a monthly cycle ending on the last calendar day of each month.
The flow:
- Throughout the month: attendance violations accrue as draft deductions
- End of month: HR reviews and finalizes deductions
- Net salary = base + components − finalized deductions
- Mark salary as paid when payroll is processed externally
The system does not push payments to a bank — it tracks the calculation. Actual payouts happen in your payroll provider (or manually).
Visibility controls
By default, salary data is HR-only. To let an employee see their own salary:
- Open the employee’s salary record
- Toggle Visible to employee on
- Save
The employee will immediately see a My Salary link in their sidebar.
Each employee can only see their own salary, never anyone else's. Managers do not see their reports' salaries unless they're also HR admins.
History and changes
Every salary change creates a new record stamped with effective date. The previous record is preserved for audit.
To view past salaries: open the employee → History tab.
Bulk operations
For uniform raises or component changes:
- Filter the salaries list to the affected group
- Click
Bulk update - Pick the field (e.g., add 5% to base) and effective date
- Confirm
A single audit entry is written with the count of affected employees.
